Yesterday, Tuesday, July 18, the presentation of the thirty-second edition of the Open Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar took place at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center, in Valladolid.
Among the attendees were great personalities who have contributed to making tennis a reality in the province of Segovia and in the Community of Castilla y León, the Director of the tournament Ms. Vivi Ruano and Mr. Pedro Muñoz, the Hon. Mayor of the Municipality of El Espinar, Ms. Alicia Palomo, the Hon, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Junta de Castilla y León, Ms. María Josefa García Cirac, the Director General of Sports of Castilla y León Mr. Alfonso Lahuerta Izquierdo and the President of the Tennis Federation of Castilla y León Mr. José Luís Corujo
One more year Tennislife & Composan Industrial and Technology have shown their commitment to the tournament and have contributed to its realization. This has made it possible to enjoy one of the 12 oldest ATP Challenger tournaments in the world, the eighth in Europe and the only one in Spain.
Like every year, we will be able to enjoy great competitions and excellent tennis players, motivated by the prizes that are more important each year and as a consequence the demand is greater.
An important novelty of the tournament is that the men’s and women ‘s tournament is incorporated in the same facilities, obviously this would not have been possible without the efforts of the City Council, the Organization and Tennislife-Composan, who continue to bet on the tournament being a benchmark within the tennis world.
Pedro Muñoz, promoter and owner of the tournament, yesterday in the presentation thanked both the Exmo. Espinar Town Hall and Tennislife&Composan their commitment to the Tournament and the Club. Composan has made a new court and has rehabilitated the central court in record time to make it possible to hold it . The system applied on the track has been the Gamelife system, a sports coating based on acrylic resins applied in three layers on an asphalt agglomerate base. It is a high performance system classified by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in category 3. Tests carried out in “Labosport” laboratories.
The El Espinar Tournament will begin with a great cast of tennis players on Saturday July 29 in Segovia and the grand final will be held on August 9.
